Why Porcelain Veneers?

Your smile is the first thing people notice, and porcelain veneers are a great way to get a beautiful smile in a short amount of time. If you’ve always wanted a megawatt grin, custom-made porcelain veneers may be the right option for you.

Porcelain veneers are an excellent solution for correcting stained, crooked, or chipped teeth. A thin shell made of tooth-coloured material covers the front side of each tooth. After they’re placed, your teeth will look natural and almost flawless.

Effective veneers are ones you don’t notice are there at all. Let us know what you dislike about your current smile, and we will explain how we can both enhance and maintain the character of your grin, all while keeping it as natural-looking as possible.

What To Expect During Your Appointment

You will receive their very own set of bespoke porcelain veneers that fit perfectly over your existing teeth and will enhance your smile. These will need to be specially designed using up-to-date digital techniques, which are perfectly planned by talented professionals in state-of-the-art laboratories. A natural look is our intention so we also look to match the tone of your veneers to your existing teeth, although if you wish to go a little lighter, this can be achieved.

These Veneers are usually fitted over 2-3 sessions. At your initial consultation we’ll need to assess the condition of your teeth, and take some x-rays. We’ll also take a 3D digital impression of your teeth, and we may also remove some of the enamel to establish its thickness. We’ll also need to prepare the teeth in order to take the finished set of porcelain veneers, and Kai Dental aims to use the least amount of filing as possible.

On the day your porcelain veneers are fitted they’ll be fixed over the existing teeth using a special adhesive. Before you leave, a straightforward examination will ensure they are comfortable, and we’ll make any necessary adjustments.

Recovery & Aftercare

Once your veneers have been fitted you should continue to practise good oral hygiene. This includes twice daily brushing and flossing, avoiding an abrasive toothpaste so as not to damage the surface. Veneers should behave in the same way as natural teeth, which means they can become cracked, chipped or broken. We advise that you refrain from chewing objects such as pens, ice and even your nails to ensure they stay in good condition. And, most important of all, you should ensure you attend regular appointments with your dentist and hygienist to help maintain good oral health.

FAQS

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They are made from a durable and natural-looking material called porcelain and can be used to address a variety of cosmetic dental concerns.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

They are designed to be long-lasting, with an average lifespan of 10 to 12 years. However, their durability can vary depending on factors such as oral hygiene practices, bite force, and habits like teeth grinding. Regular dental check-ups and proper maintenance can help extend the lifespan of porcelain veneers.

Can porcelain veneers fix crooked teeth?

These Veneers can improve the appearance of mildly crooked teeth, but they are not a substitute for orthodontic treatment. If the misalignment is significant, braces or other orthodontic solutions may be more appropriate. Veneers are better suited for correcting minor imperfections like small gaps, chips, or uneven tooth edges.

Are porcelain veneers reversible?

The process of getting veneers is considered irreversible since a small amount of enamel is typically removed from the teeth to accommodate the veneers. Once the enamel is removed, the teeth will always require some form of restoration to maintain their appearance. It’s essential to discuss the potential irreversible nature of the procedure with your dentist before making a decision.

How are porcelain veneers cared for?

Caring for veneers is similar to caring for natural teeth. Regular brushing and flossing, along with routine dental visits, are crucial for maintaining oral health and preserving the veneers’ appearance. It’s advisable to avoid biting hard objects or habits like nail-biting, as these can potentially damage the veneers. Additionally, using a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft-bristle toothbrush can help prevent scratching the porcelain surface.
