Why Ceramic Braces?

Long gone are the days of avoiding Braces based on aesthetics alone. Now, Braces can be virtually unnoticeable.

Ceramic braces are a discrete way of straightening your teeth without the look of traditional metal braces. Unlike traditional Braces, Ceramic Braces have small, clear brackets that are nearly invisible against the tooth.

These Braces are a great Orthodontic solution for young professionals who want to improve their smile but don’t want their Orthodontic appliance to distract clients.

Ask your Trinity Dental Practice Dentist if Ceramic Braces are the right option for you.

What To Expect During Your Appointment

If you require Ceramic Braces your appointments will be an orthodontist. Initially, they will take digital impressions of your teeth which will be used to custom-design your Braces. From here the brackets and archwires will be created. These braces are fixed to your teeth using a tooth-coloured cement, which will put pressure on the teeth to guide them into the desired position. As the teeth move, the jawbone will naturally accommodate the changing position of the roots. The entire process may take around 18-24 months from start to finish, and at each check-up appointment your orthodontist will assess the movement of the teeth.

Recovery & Aftercare

Your orthodontist will provide instructions on how to care for your teeth during the treatment process, including how to ensure the brackets remain clean and free from food debris. This is important as this can impact your oral health, and we would always look to prevent the development of tooth decay and other oral health issues. It may be necessary for you to brush your teeth, floss and rinse with mouthwash after every meal. We also advise that you avoid foods and drinks that are likely to cause staining. And, most importantly, do not miss your orthodontic appointments.

FAQS

What are Ceramic Dental Braces?

Ceramic Dental Braces, also known as clear or tooth-coloured braces, are orthodontic appliances used to straighten teeth and correct alignment issues. They are similar to traditional metal braces, but the brackets are made of a clear or tooth-coloured ceramic material, which makes them less noticeable.

How do Ceramic Dental Braces work?

These dental braces work by exerting gentle and constant pressure on the teeth, gradually moving them into their desired positions. The brackets are bonded to the front surface of the teeth, and an archwire connects the brackets. Over time, adjustments are made to the wire to guide the teeth into proper alignment.

Are Ceramic Dental Braces as effective as Metal Braces?

Yes, these dental braces are equally as effective as metal braces in correcting dental issues and achieving straighter teeth. They can address a wide range of orthodontic problems, including overcrowding, spacing issues, and malocclusions. The treatment duration may vary depending on individual cases.

Do Ceramic Braces stain easily?

Tooth-coloured braces are designed to be stain-resistant; however, they can still become slightly discoloured over time, especially if proper oral hygiene is not maintained. Dark-coloured foods and drinks, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, should be consumed in moderation. Regular brushing and flossing, as well as following the orthodontist’s instructions, can help minimise staining.

Are Ceramic Dental Braces more expensive than Metal Braces?

Yes, they tend to be slightly more expensive than traditional metal braces. The cost can vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the case, the orthodontist’s fees, and the location. It’s best to consult with an orthodontist to get an accurate estimate of the cost and to discuss any available payment options or insurance coverage.

Please note that it’s always recommended to consult with a qualified orthodontist for personalised advice and information regarding dental braces.
